BIOGRAPHY
Nicola Cannavo' was born in Catania on 2 December 1994 into a family of entrepreneurs.
The parents soon notice that little Nicola, instead of playing with other children of his age, prefers to spend his time in his father's workshop. Already at the age of only six, the little boy proved to be a prodigy in designing and designing and building small radio-controlled airplanes.
At the age of eight Nicola began to show a certain interest in painting and began to make some oil on board paintings of various kinds. A few years later he too begins to show interest in sculpture, so he scratches some stones that he finds from time to time in his grandfather's garden, sketching faces and half-length figures.
Parallel to his school studies, he engages in the composition of poetry and the study of acting, enrolling in the school of dramatic art. Thus Nicola affirmed himself from a very young age as an all-round artist, reaching the degree of excellence in every field. Soon he began to perform in the theater, staging his poems and intense Shakespearean works in both Italian and English, especially the tragedy of Hamlet.
After completing his artistic studies in the field of architecture, he gains experience in the workshop of a well-known Sicilian painter and sculptor, learning some tricks of the trade. Soon the artist began to create classical works ranging from painting to bronze and marble processing.
Gradually the artist moves more and more towards the expressionist movement, always adhering to a very classical and figurative representation. Among the works that the artist creates there are also many commissioned portraits and anatomical sketches.
In 2019 he participated in the exhibition at the Ursino castle in Catania and other works by the artist were exhibited in Florence the same year.
In the year 2021 Nicola is contacted by Vittorio Sgarbi, who takes the artist into great consideration for future projects and admits him to the award named after him: the Vittorio Sgarbi Prize. Also in the year 2021 he was chosen to participate in the Art Expo exhibition in Rome where he received the prestigious plaque of the Michelangelo International Award.
Nicola, in addition to being a painter, sculptor and actor, is also a skilled poet. He writes several poems in archaic Italian and in the Florentine vernacular, evoking the Dante style. His poems are included in some books on Italian culture and literature, to name one in the monthly 'Il Convivio'. One of the poems composed by the artist, "The Crucifixion of St. Peter", can be found in the book Art Now. Poetry that enjoys great success among readers and poetry enthusiasts.
